Who this course is for
Developers and technicians building labels for TSC, Printronix Auto ID, and compatible TSPL/TSPL2 printers.
Prerequisites
No TSPL experience is required. Basic barcode and thermal-printing concepts are useful.
TSPL-specific learning path
This outline follows the commands, hardware assumptions, and workflows of the TSC and Printronix Auto ID ecosystem.
- 01
CLS → content → PRINT
Learn TSPL’s readable line-oriented job structure and keep source documentation outside the transmitted job.
- 02
SIZE, GAP, BLINE & calibration
Describe label stock correctly before placing a single field and keep sensor calibration distinct from preview.
- 03
Coordinates, direction & offsets
Control the image origin, print direction, and feed offsets without accidental mirroring.
- 04
TEXT, BAR, BOX & drawing primitives
Build structured layouts and controlled text hierarchy from TSPL’s explicit drawing commands.
- 05
BARCODE, QRCODE & DMATRIX
Choose linear and 2D symbols, validate their data constraints, and combine symbologies safely.
- 06
Density, speed & ribbon behavior
Run a controlled print-quality trial and distinguish physical output from SVG preview.
- 07
Jobs, downloaded assets & diagnostics
Control copies and counters, manage printer-resident assets, and keep status responses separate from preview.
- 08
Bluetooth, WLAN & fleet setup
Create a model-specific deployment note and handle example credentials safely.
- 09
TSPL RFID actions
Write and read back Gen2 memory with explicit calibration and hardware boundaries.
- 10
TSPL production capstones
Combine media setup, layout, standards-aware data, and production constraints in shipping, warehouse, and regulated labels.
- 11
Debugging TSPL production labels
Diagnose incomplete job cycles, off-canvas content, wrong symbologies, omitted production data, and unreadable scaling.
What the simulator can — and cannot — prove
Learn and iterate in-browser
Use the playground to learn syntax, inspect parsed fields, render common label elements, and iterate quickly without installing printer software.
Verify on the target printer
Preview covers common drawing and barcode output. Media calibration, firmware-specific SET options, downloaded fonts, Bluetooth/WLAN changes, status responses, and RFID operations require compatible hardware.
