Overview

Defines Code 128: the 107-character set spread across three subsets (A/B/C), the start codes, the silent mandatory mod-103 check character, the stop pattern, and the FNC1/FNC2/FNC3/FNC4 control characters. GS1-128 is Code 128 with FNC1 as the first character signalling GS1 Application Identifier encoding.

Why it matters for RFID

Code 128 is the workhorse barcode for shipping labels, logistics, healthcare, and any application where alphanumeric data has to be carried in a 1D barcode. GS1-128 builds on it.
